JJ Group of Hospitals, Eyebetes Foundation come together to conduct CLIA based antibody test on 800 healthcare employees
Eyebetes Foundation and Dr Nishant Kumar, Fulbright Scholar, Founding Trustee of Eyebetes Foundation with leading experts from JJ Hospital and Grant Medical College have organised the largest covid-19 sero-prevalence screening initiative for doctors, nurses and frontline workers, working at JJ Hospital, St Georges Hospital and GT Hospital.
A Covid-19 sero-prevalence screening is currently underway for a group of doctors, nurses and frontline workers at the JJ Hospital, St Georges Hospital and GT Hospital in Mumbai, said Eyebetes Foundation, one of India’s largest charitable initiatives for diabetes and blindness.
A medical check-up conducted for 400 cops at Siddhivinayak temple on the occasion of Ganpati festival has come out with some startling facts: As many as 160 among them, that is a cool 40%, suffer from uncontrolled BP and blood sugar issue. Doctors blame it on an unhealthy lifestyle.
Out of the 400 policemen screened at a health camp at Siddhivinayak temple, 40 per cent were found suffering from uncontrolled BP and blood sugar due to work stress. Dr Nishant Kumar, eye surgeon, said, “The camp witnessed 400 policemen who came to get their sugar and blood levels checked. It was ala-rming that out of approximately 400, 40 per cent pol-icemen have uncontrolled BP and blood sugar.”
Due to immense work pressure Police personnel do not pay enough attention to their health and this causes them various ailments. During a health camp organised by Eyebetes Foundation outside Siddhivinayak Temple at Prabhadevi, 400 police men and women of Mumbai Police Force received Free Eye Checkup along with Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar.
40% Policemen are suffering from High Blood Pressure and Diabetes. This shocking information was revealed by Dr. Nishant Kumar, Consultant Ophthalmologist, Retina Surgeon and Uveitis Specialist, during a health checkup organised by Eyebetes Foundation Outside Siddhivinayak Temple at Prabhadevi during 11 days of Ganpati Festival.
Long working hours, 24 hours on duty leads to ignorance of health, illness for the Police Force. At Prabhadevi’s Siddhivinayak Temple a health camp was organised by Eyebetes Foundation to provide Free Eye Checkup, Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar. Almost 400 policemen and women from Mumbai Police were tested free of cost out of which 40% were found suffering from High Blood Pressure and Diabetes.

The Eyebetes Foundation has been organising a free screening for diabetes, blood pressure and common blinding eye diseases like diabetes of the eyes, glaucoma, cataract, aging, and rare infections and inherited diseases. Dr Nishant Kumar, leading ophthalmologist and retinal surgeon started Eyebetes Foundation to create awareness about diabetes and blindness. They provide free screening for diabetes, hypertension, vision problems and blinding eye conditions like diabetes, glaucoma and other retinal conditions. Since 2016 the foundation has organised events at Lalbaughcha Raja, Haji Ali Dargah and Siddhivinayak Temple where more than 80,000 people have been screened for free. On June 15, 2019, in collaboration with the Thane Collector, 1,234 rural and tribal diabetics were screened for free for diabetic eye and kidney damage. In 2016, Eyebetes Foundation and Dr Kumar created a Guinness World Record for Most Diabetic Screening in 8 Hours.
