Previous Appointments

From 2011 – 2014, Dr. Nishant Kumar was associated with Moorfields Eye Hospital, U.K. as Consultant Ophthalmologist. Moorfields Eye Hospital in London is one of the oldest and most renowned eye hospitals in the world. For more than 100 years it has served as the “last word” for diseases affecting the eye.

Having completed all his training in the U.K. and on completion of all the requirements for registration on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council, UK, Dr. Nishant Kumar was appointed as a Consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital.

At Moorfields he provided tertiary referral care for diseases affecting the retina and for patients suffering from uveitis.

He has worked in the Medical Retina team, Surgical Retina team and Uveitis team.

Normally Consultants at Moorfields restrict themselves to one department (i.e. Medical retina or surgical retina or uveitis). He is one of the very few consultants at Moorfields who was working across three departments. His extensive training and multiple Fellowships at prestigious institutes was recognized by Moorfields and he was permitted to work across specialities which cover the entire gamete of diseases of the posterior segment.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities Dr. Nishant Kumar was actively involved in teaching and research. He has published a number of peer-reviewed papers from my work at Moorfields.

At Moorfields he had a number of national and international trainees working and training with him. He was actively involved in their clinical and surgical training.
