Clinical Trials

Principal Investigator

1. EVER trial

With Dr Spaide I am the principal investigator of this trial, which evaluates aflibercept in patients with a pigment epithelial detachment despite ranibizumab. This is an investigator-sponsored trial (IST) with Regeneron.

I have been responsible for submitting the initial study proposal, drafting the study protocol and negotiating budgets for the trial. We have secured a budget of $400000.00 for this trial.

2. EYEBETES study

I am the principal investigator for this large cohort study which is supported by the Eyebetes Foundation.

Main Investigator

1. VIEW2 Study (Industry sponsored clinical trial – aflibercept for neovascular AMD; Liverpool)

2. IVAN trial (NHS sponsored clinical trial – ranibizumab compared to bevacizumab in neovascular AMD; Liverpool)

3. HOLD trial (Investigator Sponsored Trial (IST) – aflibercept for recalcitrant fluid despite treatment with ranibizumab; New York USA)
I helped design this trial with Dr Slakter (New York). I was instrumental in negotiating the budget of this trial with Regeneron. We secured a grant of $350000 for this trail.

4. LAST trial (Investigator Sponsored Trial (IST) – high dose ranibizumab 2mg in neovascular AMD; New York USA)

Sub-investigator

1. PDT Cohort Study (photodynamic with verteporfin for neovascular AMD study; Liverpool)

2. ISMO Study (Diabetic retinopathy imaging study; Liverpool)
