Dr. Nishant Kumar’s Profile

Dr. Nishant Kumar completed his MBBS from the prestigious Seth G.S. Medical College and KEM Hospital in Mumbai.

On completion of MBBS he left India to pursue his training in Ophthalmology (eye surgery) in the UK and USA.

He is one of the very few Ophthalmologist in India to have completed all his eye training in the UK and is the proud recipient of the MRCOphth(London) and FRCOphth (London) qualifications from the prestigious Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London.

On completion of his training he went on to complete multiple Fellowships in Medical Retina, Surgical Retina and Uveitis in some of the most prestigious eye hospitals in the UK.

He worked at and trained at St. Paul’s Eye Unit, Liverpool, Bristol Eye Infirmary, Bristol and Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

Dr. Nishant Kumar was appointed as Consultant Ophthalmologist at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

Moorfields Eye Hospital is the oldest and most prestigious Eye Hospital in the world. With a history of 200 years it is considered the ‘Mecca’ for eye diseases. Even today new innovations like gene therapy and stem cell treatment have originated from Moorfields.

At Moorfields Eye Hospital Dr. Nishant Kumar was engaged in managing patients with complex retinal diseases, complex uveitis problems and complex cataracts.

He returned to Mumbai having spent more than 17 years in the UK and USA to establish centre of excellence for eye diseases in India.

He has set up the Eye Department at Hinduja Hospital, Khar which today has the best diagnostic and surgical equipment to manage complex eye diseases.

Today Dr. Nishant Kumar at Hinduja Hospital is providing world-class treatment using state of the art technology at affordable prices in Mumbai.

In addition to his work at Hinduja Hospital, Dr. Nishant Kumar is a Founder and Trustee of Eyebetes Foundation. This is a registered charitable Foundation working to create awareness regarding Diabetes and Diabetes and Blindness since 2016.

In a short span of 3 years Dr. Nishant Kumar and Eyebetes Foundation have established this as a leading charitable initiative for Diabetes and Blindness.

Dr. Nishant Kumar is considered as one of the leading Retina Surgeons in the country and is actively involved in teaching and training and travels across the country to share his knowledge and train Ophthalmologists throughout the country.
